What is Seussical about??

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical KIDS, a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime).
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks." Horton's challenge is twofold — not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

THE FINE PRINT: The cost of the program reflects the program changes and actually comes down to less than $10/per hour plus the material fee which covers the rights and materials for the show plus production costs. With ever changing circumstances, LIVE theatre performances may or may not be allowed due to the pandemic. If they are not, we will offer the same LIVE stream experience that we had for our productions of FAME, jr. and  Annie Jr!  Details are being worked on now.

This is a LIVE, in person program (at the Culver West Alexander Park in Culver City), featuring
one of Music Theatre International's Broadway Kids productions geared toward theatre performance. We will rehearse our shows both indoors and outdoors. If streaming, we will be able to obtain a streaming license for the show so students can invite their family and friends to an online streaming event! Classes are limited to 30 participants, Covid-19 restrictions will be followed: Mask wearing, social distancing observed.

The performers will be required to wear masks while rehearsing and performing up until further notice. Many of our rehearsals will be outdoors, weather permitting. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, there may or may not be theatre performances, but if not, there will be live streamings of our video performances. We will do everything necessary to ensure the health safety of our children. (Our live summer camp, fall and winter and spring sessions were very successful with 2 groups! It is proving to be a welcoming creative outlet for our kids to sing and dance with each other and continue to develop their talents!)
COVID-19 precautions:
  • Limited to 30 campers per group
  • Hand sanitizer provided all day every day
  • Use of outside space as much as possible
  • Masks required in doors at all times
  • Social distancing encouraged at all times
  • Masks encouraged outdoors
  • One person in the restroom at a time
  • Staff sanitizes facility frequently throughout the day
