Fall Workshop 2015
                               Fall 2015 Workshops

This fall, we will be taking a one-session break from offering a traditional musical theatre show. Instead, we will be offering two workshops for participants to strengthen their vocal and dance skills! We will have limited enrollment for all workshops.

Our Fall Workshops will begin on Saturday, September 12th, and will run on Saturdays through the end of November, culminating in a recital on Friday, December 4th after the Culver City Tree Lighting ceremony.

Musical Theatre requires an amazing combination of skills in vocal performance, dance, stylized movement and acting. Our classes this fall will help you sharpen your tools for all three. You will discover how to more effectively tell YOUR part of the story through focusing on individual songs from various shows that dee-Lightful has done in the past, by playing a variety of characters from each. For example, you might be a showgirl in Bugsy Malone, as well as one of the sisters in Fiddler on the Roof, and a barnyard animal from HONK!

You will have the opportunity to focus on songs that you might wish to have as part of your repertoire, your individual collection of songs to perform at the drop of a hat! There will be group songs that will be developed in both the Vocal Performance and the Dance classes separately, and then worked together for our performance. The selection of songs to be performed for our recital will be decided a few weeks into the class. Everyone will be cast in multiple songs from various shows. There will be many solos plus ensemble production numbers. It's gonna be a blast!

Dolores Aguanno
, dee-Lightful's Artistic Director, will oversee the classes and help to carve out our show for the recital in December.

Vocal Performance for Musical Theatre
Taught by Giana Bommarito (BA in Theatre from USC, wonderful performer and beloved dee-Lightful summer camp counselor)

The focus of this class will be on projection/learning to support your voice in a healthy way, as well as learning to confidently stand in the shoes of your character and sing your songs from the awareness of who you are as that character, using your voice, your personality, and your way of moving!  Group songs and solos!
Class size limited to 20
All levels meet from 11:30 AM-12:45 PM on Saturdays, beginning September 12th
If there is enough interest, we will open another section from 10:00-11:15 AM

The focus of this class will be on developing confidence and stage presence in your movement. Various dance styles will be explored, as well as other forms of stylized movement. Dances from various shows will be taught and performed.
